After the .58 update, at auto refresh rate and lowest to highest brightness, black crush has reduced on my device. If I keep the device at 144Hz, then black crush is still there at brightness lower than 70%.
I hope Asus developers are still on it to decrease the black crush issue at all settings. If it can be reduced to a greater extent by using "Screen balance" app, then it should be fixable by calibration.
Perhaps they need to calibrate the screen at each brightness step levels and for all refresh rates.
Set VPN to any united states location. You will get system update notification
Ya got the update today morning bro.. but as mentioned if brightness is low, black crush issue still there.. if brightness is more, no issue..
But overall the display is greenish.. I'll post a photo of the phone while turned off.. just check it with yours..
@salmannaser The green tint when display is off has been there from the beginning. Don't worry bro that is not an issue. Try zooming into a fully black image and you will still see it. It is just the nature of the display.
Ya it was there from the beginning.. but want to know whether it's for all devices or just mine
Spamming like bots? LOL. That seems to be more of your genre. I simply expressed my POV on the whole thing. The toxicity that people like you spread on professional forums is just pathetic.
Also, Yes, I have the phone and unlike whining like you, I am waiting for the official update that helps with it. Thus, calm down Kick Battowski and stop judging people for no reason. Peace.
It is ironical that no other OEM has "advertised" it either. And yes, the amount of toxicity and hate is filth. So, I will call it that. As for the issue and youtubers not facing it, some of them might have not used it at low brightness, some maybe have accepted the same in high Hz panels and some just chose not to highlight it. You cannot blame ASUS for it, can you? Maybe just ping in your favourite YouTuber and take his opinion.
Also, in case you have access to internet to post long comments as these and whine, I would request you to please Google the issue and see the forums of other OEMs. You'll surprise yourself.
Exactly every oem forum has tons tons of display related posts (especially high refresh rate ones)
I did post a lot of sources in my comments above whether it be oneplus or samsung flagships who "supposedly" use the best available panels have display issues too whether it be tint, black crush, retention, black bar around punch hole etc
Just see amazon reviews for oneplus 8pro that phone had dumpster fire sales and the review section is filled with complains
Even the ultra expensive note 20 ultra has various display complains
And the people who claim that asus hasn't issued any statement regarding black crush, have any of them even read the multiple comments anders and other mods have stated here?
He has repeatedly said that asus is working on it. 58 was just a partial fix future updates will probably reduce it further
What more do you guys want asus to "acknowledge" smh
Plus all the big you tubers, tech sites won't always tell you the truth regarding any phone
Remember oneplus 8pro with "A+ display mate rating" we all know how that turned out to be lol
At the end of the day it's the users who report stuff and some of the honest YT channels
amoled tech is a eye candy for sure but it does come with its fair share of disadvantages
I DONT see any green tint issue when display is off
I guess you need to check other forums where users of OnePlus and other companies also posted their experience but literally no one in other forums named those comments as filth expect you @imperatorraj in this forum and now I think everyone will get to know who is filthy
A: people who share their frustration and terrible experience of cartoonish Black gray patch display
B: the ones who just give users pain, frustration a tag of filth
A or B you can give your support to one of the above
choice is upto you folks ,You know who is a filth and who is not
Okay @Averan I'll agree OnePlus also has some problems but do you think oneplus has this kind of terrible black crush , absolutely not
I'll post a picture tomorrow to show you how much OnePlus display is way better in terms of black crush
in rog 3 black crush is at its peaks no other phone will ever get to compete with it in black terms of black crush@Averan
Can you post one picture while turned off from different angles.. please..
The reviews start with this (almost every review mentions black crush)
All I see are complains on Amazon, reddit, their forums and telegram grps
👀 (This is just one their grp is filled with complains)
Did I claim that Rog doesn't have black crush?
All I wanted to say was that all high hz phones including op has it too
It's an technological disadvantage with high hz panels right now
You'll have those issues unless there's an improvement in technology, micro led which is a best of both ips and OLED tech
Not everyone rates a purchase neither writes a review this as an avg sets things pretty clear though
Plus I the above screenshots I posted were on top (I didn't even have to go into 1 star review section)
Plus us arguing which phone has more issues doesn't make any sense to be honest 😂
Let's hope Asus can decrease the black crush in future updates
showing 1 star on top AI thing done in Amazon but it is not followed in flipkart yeah not everyone rates a purchase but in that few people who review for Rog 3 about 140 out of 1400 reviews on Rog 3 are 1 star yep I guess arugements doesn't end neither of us will stop ,just leave it
I hope they will fix it
if asus fixes this issue I'll agree that asus are on par with OnePlus and others biggies
*1900 (almost 2k) total reviews
1400+ are positive 5 star tho
And yeah Asus is working on it as per mod comments, some did report a decrease in black crush after latest fota so that's a positive sign imo
I don't think users who said the black crush has decreased have different results than us @Averan ( I'm assuming you updated too ). They just meant above 70% brightness the black crush is gone on all refresh rates and that's true.
if asus really fixes this issue I'll agree that Asus is on par with onplus and other biggies
