Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:

  1. Model Name: ROG PHONE 2
  2. Firmware Version: 17.0240.2007.27
  3. Rooted or not: not
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: almost everyday
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): not app related

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.

=======================================

While normally using the phone, the screen suddenly goes crazy , and every touch i make it does a totally different action. If i just touch the screen the notification panel drops down, if i swipe down it opens a random app and so on. Couldn't record anything because I couldn't drop the notification panel on purpose and when I try to press record from the shortcuts it wont recognize the touch input. Also it kind of remedies only if i lock the phone or after restart.

  • It started doing this only after the last update. I will try to attach a video as soon as i can get one of what is happening.

  • @Ionut Adrian Could you please help provide information as below? Thanks

    1. After phone reboot, how long does it last for the phone "under control"? (since you mentioned it is a kind of remedies)

2 Is it possible for you to make the phone access Safe Mode to test if this issue persists? (Long press power key > tap and hold "Power off" > Tap "OK" to access safe mode)

    3. Could you please use another phone to make a video clip for this issue? Thanks.

Of course. I will try to do it as soon as i can, sorry dor the late reply.

    However it is happening randomly

  • It happens with me when i use my device while charging. Although in my case few spots on screen have fast touches like it will tap on screen automatically while my finger is steady in that spot. You will know when you see the video i attached. @Anders_ASUS

My suggestion is to access Safe Mode to check if this is a software issue. If problem persists in safe mode, it probably means this is a hardware issue and thus factory reset may not work for you.

  • Please look at my video and tell me. My issue only happens to those areas of the screen and only when charging the device.

  • It happens so randomly that when I go for the other phone it kind of dissappears. Its not constant. Last time i tried filming it it faded away .

  • Could finally get it in a video.

  • Oh no its unusable. Better take it to service center and show them this video.

  • Thx, i may also try to reset the phone to factory just to make sure that no app si messing with it

The same happens to me and I'm in the exactly same version. I didn't notice it before this last update, so maybe it's something software related.

Although it doesn't happen when it's charging, it happens completely at random times and very rarely. A full system reset always solves it for me, but it's very worrying.

I had an Oneplus 7 Pro that started with ghost touches after some months of use and after some days half the screen was unresponsive.

Please lemme know if a factory reset solved it.

    Thanks in advance!

I can confirm this as it happens in my RoG 2 too every now and then, i am not hard resetting and stuff as it is super annoying and time consuming but what i do is to turn off the screen (and lock) then turn on again and the issue is gone. Does anyone else use an immersive manager to avoid possible AMOLED burn in from the notification bar as i do or not? Just guessing if that's the problem, which i doubt tho.
