Splendid mode for 5z in A10

Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:
- Model Name: ZS620KL (5z)
- Firmware Version: 100.10.107.70
- Rooted or not: not
- Frequency of Occurrence: always
- APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): splendid mode
In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.
========================================
Observed some difference in splendid mode in A10
Troubleshooting:
- Factory reset (via both Recovery Mode and Settings) to fix other issues.
- Downgrade to Android 9 (via firmware.zip) to compare with Android 10.
- Upgrade to each version of Android 10 (via both firmware.zip and FOTAService).

#1. Did you realized that Splendid standards have changed?
- The temperature slider of Android 9 used to be:
- Cold [blue side; blue tint]
- Balanced [center; white]
- Warm [red side; yellow tint]
- On Android 10 it seems to be:
- Balanced [blue side; white]
- Warm [center; yellow tint]
- Hot [red side; orange tint]

#2. Did you realized that the video playback sharpness gets worse when not using the next configuration?
- Cold temperature [blue side; blue tint] (Not possible on Android 10, as mentioned above.)
- Auto: OFF
- Screen color optimisation: OFF
Is it a bug mods?? @CH_ASUS

I never saw a 1080p display blurring videos like 5Z do. It seems like an aggressive anti-aliasing.

I downloaded the first 10 sec clip and compared 5z with ROG Phone 2 and ZenFone 6. They all look pretty much the same when it comes to sharpness.
I don't know what videos looked like on 5z with Android 9 but I don't believe we made it worse, especially not since it doesn't look blurrier than my other phones
I noticed one issue with video playback, that it is not smooth on 5z.
Play 30fps video on 5z and any other phone. The video plays on 5z is somewhat choppy than others.
I'm not saying this a bug which everyone will face but i noticed this. Please do correct me.
The crispness and oomph factor for the display which made it awesome in android oreo and pie is somewhat lost. If we turn off color correction and display optimisation, then the video smoothness and richness is affected. I didn't notice it till now as i mostly kept both auto color correction and optimization on. @Anders_ASUS please look into it. It may be a solved easily
Sorry to say it as worse but i mean video quality degrades with sharpness if we turn OFF auto and also OFF screen colour optimisation both options in splendid while colour mode is on wide colour gamut u can see diffrence if u play any video apart from animated u cn cross check with any music video or any other @Anders_ASUS
On Android 9, everything was sharper (not only video, but overall), maybe display sharpness was on a higher setting.
Not only this, but temperature changed a lot too.
Maybe it's a matter of image processing.
I've tried this clip with both optimizations on and off, wide color gamut/standard/default without noticing any difference in sharpness
Hey there @Anders_ASUS. what resolution are you streaming on? here in India max resolution is showing up 480p/60fps. Alsoi noticed slight flickering of screen when switching to full screen, maybe HDR kicking in. it should be smooth transition i guess. Something seems off with the splendid calibrations. please look into it
ok, please find a video clip available online which is not streaming, that you experience as much sharper on other devices. Send the link so I can have a look at it too
Your clip is HDR, it turns off Splendid optimizations while playing.
Try this:
The higher the brightness, worse the sharpness.
The warmer the temperature, worse the sharpness.
Auto ON = Warmer = Worse sharpness
Screen Color Optimization = Agressive anti-aliasing = Worse sharpness
Every this turned on = Better color but sharp as oil painting
On Android 10, we lost the cold temperature:
This is my experience.
ok, I'm simply not seeing this lack of sharpness that you're talking about. Maybe you can make me understand with a screen recording?
It's hard to record, it's very "fine-tune" issue. Anyway, it's ok.
I would appreciate if you tweak temperature tuning back to what was in Android 9.
It would be nice if the color temperature is tuned on lines of android pie
Also the brightness is knowingly somewhat higher than that it was in pie. It's like it is not calibrated. Before the screen used to blur things in background (lets say when we open notification shade the home screen beneath or/and at the background got blurred ) now the screen no longer blurs but dims in somewhat case. It's just pike as There's a white tint on the screen.
Look at this grey kind of area just looks as if the darkers are more brighter/whitish now!!!
Peace.
This video:
@Anders_ASUS could you check the 2nd scene? ... the lake and the mountains.
Check it with maximum brightness, then again with a lower value.
Check it with warmer and colder temp.
With auto and optimum sets on and off.
it's a little random as each display have its own calibration.
butthe lake and the mountains loses sharpness and not only color, temp and brightness
Yup now 5z's isn't smooth anymore, display surfing doesn't looks like its a 60hz screen it looks like a 40hz screen now, 4k 60fps videos is also not playable with actual smoothness.... I think developers have done something wrong with performance, very sad to see that 4yrs old phone's screen surfing is more smooth than 5z. Its was smooth in Android 9.
@CH_ASUS, he's right.
The hz of the display have been lowered?
This is normal. Youtube HDR will adopt separate fixed settings for HDR.
Sharpness is really off. please look into it. i know its really late to ask this
No problems with HDR but thats true something is wrong with splendid sharpness goes down at some scenes and it is noticable only in warmer tint if we increase color temperature bar to full (yellow) and keep auto off or on and screen color optimisation off if look closely thats noticable u can check bruno video to check with sharpness (it is noticable on full brightness)
