For those who are rooted can maybe give https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/magisk-module-01-09-21-pnp-tuner-for-zenfone-8.4327631/ and https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-04-09-2021-android-11-kirisakura-1-4-7-for-asus-zenfone-8-aka-sake.4295287/ a try. I guess adjusting power settings should also affect the heating…

Ah, Sorry. I didn't open the file. I just saw the file names and was like ok let not someone the wrong file and be like nothing wrong to see here let's move on. Just as something am curious about can you find if the phone is using camera api2 /camera2. If so to what extent. Here is a link for lil details and how to check:…

Hi, Can you clarify which video file is from which device so that one does not mistake one for the other.

Tbh the search feature of the forum could be better. Something like selecting to search under the zenfone 8 topic/sub thread would make it a bit better to search for device specific issues and so on. For example have a look at xda and their this forum option under search. tld: please give us a better search in the forum.

Do check if the repeater has any update available. Let's see if asus team will be able to do something about it or if you are feeling like you'd like to tinker then give openwrt a spin (https://openwrt.org/toh/avm/avm_fritz_wlan_repeater_450e) (you will be losing the fritz interface on the repeater and so if it has like…

Forgot to mention. Do also check the negotiated link speed might be a issue there too. As for where you can check this go to the wifi settings and click on the network it's connected to and generally you'll find it under advanced. I'd advice you to run some download or load a huge site or file that it has the chance to…

Hi, I think it would be helpful if you mention what router you are using. It seems at times some devices don't behave well with some routers. I have a laptop which had a very similar issue with a relatively new router and the problem seems to be packet drop which used to vary in a way. The "hanging" part where things don't…

Just for reference / comparison I'm attaching stats from a phone I've been using for 4 years, a oneplus 3t. It's currently running a LOS 18.1 based custom rom with partial micro-g (unifiednlp and things). Last I saw some app showed the equivalent battery capacity of the phone was 2000 something mah, was few months back.…

As for the water resistance part if the phone has a barometer then maybe take a look at this https://www.xda-developers.com/app-uses-phones-barometer-test-water-resistance/

With the overheating issue with the 888 processor across devices maybe something like what oneplus had done (https://gizmodo.com/oneplus-admits-it-throttles-popular-apps-on-its-flagshi-1847253576) but with option to select apps maybe or some form of optimization to improve battery life and reduce heating. But it seems like…

Haha .... Oh well at least people reporting about it might catch the eyes of the devs and they might do something about it right .. Or they might be able to use the scenarios being reported to find and solve the issue. Faster updates might be cooler I guess at least like a sign up to the beta - Faster but might not be bug…

Reading about the virtual a/b implementation https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/virtual_ab where it states "Virtual A/B updates can be rolled back." I do think this might be possible given that it uses snapshots ( i guess like how virtual machines use snapshots) so I guess It just has to be coded in to use this…

Reading about this issue it seems like the samsung made 888 chips ( 888 chips made using the 5nm process developed by samsung and so most likely in samsung fabs ) seem to be having a lot of this overheating issue across many devices. With companies pushing patches to minimize heating I guess asus also has to do something…

Not sure ... I did see your previous comment before the one I made previously but it's gone now. Strange .... Do mods remove comments ?

Asus the company as a whole is big but the mobile division might not be so. And I'm not sure if the management goes through the community forums to look at the problems being faced and the customer feedback I might be wrong. But tbh it does seem bad for a very recently released flagship to be on a more than 2 month old…

As for notification is not FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) supposed to stop the issue of delayed notification coz of battery optimization. I guess it has to be checked if firebase is being used by the apps having the issue. Or if there is some issue with asus software with the way it handles the apps. But I don't think…

Looking up the heating issue it seems to be a kinda open issue with the samsung produced 888 chip and the smaller size most likely is not helping it dissipate that heat. But I do also see people reporting good sot time so I guess some optimization to the kernal might help.

Having an app might be good. A dedicated issue tracking section sounds cool like I guess would make it easy for people to just drop in and find if the issue they are having is widespread and to find the status on said issue and also to provide inputs if needed.

I don't think It's lousy as such. We do not know the work load of the devs there and the projects they might be working on. Maybe not well managed or maybe not enough resource allocation. But saying so releasing security updates might be possible to be done faster given that custom rom devs ( been using custom roms for…
